Joining

Freemasonry

Contrary to the popular myth, you do not
have to wait to be asked

Who is eligible to join?

Freemasonry is open to any man of mature age and good character who believes in a Supreme Being.

This means that you must be over 18 and have no criminal record (parking and speeding offences excepted). When becoming a Freemason, members are expected to be able to affirm a belief in a ‘Supreme Being’. This is deliberately phrased so as to be fully inclusive and we celebrate the diverse nature of the beliefs of our members. There is no requirement to be an active practitioner of any particular religion.

UGLE admits only men – Women’s Freemasonry does exist and is represented by two seperate organizations. UGLE only admits men.

The application process

Get in touch to let us know you’re interested and we’ll do the rest.

Send us your email address or contact our Lodge Secretary and we’ll get in touch for an initial online chat. We will then set up a convenient time to schedule a meeting with you and a couple of Lodge members.

At that meeting we’ll answer any questions and explain how the Lodge works, what membership will cost and what happens at our meetings.

If you still wish to go ahead we will need to complete some application paperwork with you and then your Initiation will be scheduled at a meeting of the Lodge.
